Track Your 2026 Goals with Activity Craft Counters
Link to this headingNew Year, New Goals
It's that time of year again. You've set your resolutions: run 1,000 kilometers, climb the height of Everest on your bike, or simply stay consistent with 3 workouts a week.
But tracking these goals on Strava can be limited properly if you want granular control. You might want to track only trail runs, or exclude virtual rides from your annual tally. You might care about calories rather than distance.
That's why we built Counters.

Counters are flexible, customizable trackers that run in the background as you sync activities from Strava. They answer the simple question: "How much have I done?"
Unlike basic annual totals, Activity Craft Counters give you complete control:
- Choose Your Metric: Track Distance, Time (Duration), Elevation Gain, or Calories.
- Filter by Sport: Pick exactly which sport types contribute. Want a counter just for Gravel Rides? You got it. Want one for All Foot Sports (Run, Trail Run, Hike, Walk)? Easy.
- Set Your Period:
- Yearly: Perfect for "2026 Goals". Resets on Jan 1st.
- Monthly: Great for building consistency. Resets on the 1st of the month.
- Weekly: Resets every Monday. Keep your momentum up.
- All Time: Watch your lifetime stats grow.

Tracking is great, but sharing is better. Because this is Activity Craft, Counters talk directly to your Automations.
Every Counter you create generates a unique dynamic tag (e.g., [[counter:my-goal]]) that you can use in your activity titles or descriptions.
How to automate your Strava descriptions with counters:
- Create a counter for "2026 Trail Runs". Let's say you name it "2026 Trail".
- Create an automation rule for Trail Run activities.
- In the "Update Description" action, simply drop in the tag:
Progress: [[counter:2026-trail]] km.
When you finish your run, Activity Craft will automatically calculate the new total and update your Strava activity:
"Amazing view from the top! 🌲 Progress: 124 km"
Your followers will see your progress updating live with every activity, without you ever typing a number.
💡 Pro Tip: Combine with Conditions
You can create smart automation rules that only show your counter when it matters.
- Rule: "Only for Long Runs" (Condition: Distance > 15km)
- Action: Update Title to
Long Run Sunday | [[counter:yearly-distance]] km YTD
This keeps your short weekday runs clean, but brags about your total stats on the big efforts.
